Friends of Tomoka Basin State Parks
The Official Citizen Support Organization for the Tomoka Basin State Parks
Join the Friends of Tomoka State Park in performing This Family fun activity, gyotaku fish painting! Gyotaku is a traditional form of Japanese art that began over 100 years ago as a way for fishermen to keep a record of the fish they caught. They would apply sumi ink to one side of a freshly caught fish, then cover the fish with rice paper and rub to create an exact image of the fish. We will be modifying the process slightly, allowing participants to create a "fish print" of their own!
The workshop organizer will provide cloth for fish painting; however, participants are welcome to bring a white t-shirt or a tote bag to create wearable art.
Meet in the Recreation Hall.
This event is free with park entry of $5.00 per vehicle. Donations are welcome. All donations will go to the Friends of Tomoka Basin State Parks, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the Tomoka Basin State Parks.
